Traveling to Europe soon, and looking for gift ideas for my host families...?

I'm going to Germany and Italy next month through my school German class to stay with a friend in Germany who stayed with me last fall, and a new person in Italy whom I haven't met. My German friend brought my family really nice gifts, but since we don't have good european chocolate etc. I'm not quite sure what to bring...
What do we have in the United States, more specifically Wisconsin, that would be cool to bring as gifts to Germany and Italy?

A box of Classic Petits Fours or a box of Mint Melties or a Chocolate Covered Strawberries( I love them, yummy ) from Wisconsin Cheeseman. They are not that expensive chocolates, great quality and nice boxes.

One thing that's always a big hit is a picture book from the area you live in the USA and a CD with local music. If they have children : a cap and/or a t-shirt of a local team.
