Let Them (me) Eat Cake

Tonight was one of those nights. Our friend Michael, who lives in Denmark, came for a visit. We sat and talked for two hours, then we brought out the cake. This was not a light cake with icing sugar sprinkled on it. Was chocolate torte, layered with cake and chocolate mousse. And I just want one piece, I ate three. Do I need three bedrooms? No. but for some reason, I just wanted to eat three slices (and I ate one after Michael left).

Once he was gone, and after that last piece of cake, I'm sitting and thinking: Tomorrow I? 'll skip breakfast. No, I'm going fast. No, I'm just going to drink boxes of liquid that take the place of a meal and get rid of this bulge in my belly soon as humanly possible.

I then realized that I'm not going to do, any of these things. I'll get up in the morning and eat breakfast and move on with my day. I will not fall in the "I'm fat and have to deprive myself of losing weight that I just won" trap.

But you know, these thoughts were certainly predatory my brain cells in charge of sugar! It is a purely emotional response, and a trap so great that it is hard to miss.

You must understand I know in my head, there is no way to gain 5 pounds while eating a few extra slices of cake (even if it's chocolate torte). I know that if I am in the morning tomorrow's scale, it would show a gain of weight, but it is not a gain in fat. I did not eat the 3,500 extra calories that constitute a pound of fat. But I know it's hard not to think that I did exactly that.

The truth is, my eating habits regular are not like that. For whatever reason (business, glass of wine, or just?. Because) I ate a lot of cake tonight. I not know if I kept up this kind of behavior on a regular basis, of course, I would gain much weight. For many years, this was indeed the case. But for me, I can honestly say, this is not my usual behavior.

It has been a long journey for me, this becoming "At peace with food". "It took years of crazy diet, fasting, and I punish myself for overeating. That lasted until I declared truce. Yes, it was like a war between me and the food I ate. But now I know I went through. In fact, I would say that this is not a truce, I said with food, but rather the peace treaty.

May I have this treatment, for any reason (Time to stop obsessing, Leeann), and tomorrow I'll get up and move forward. I refuse to get caught in this endless cycle of "I due, coulda done better "or" I'm out of control, and that makes me a bad person. "" I'll get up, breakfast, and go to work. I know that I will do my best to meet my goals of walking (it's hard when the weather is bad, but when I try to walk around my house), and just keep moving. I'll wear a skirt that makes me feel comfortable, not one that is tight. I'll feel good.

After all years I have learned to balance my diet with a supercharger, I now that regular physical activity is part of my life (and that healthy eating), and regardless of what I eat, I'm still a responsible, intelligent (sometimes spiritual) person who is at peace with food.

Tonight I ate a lot of cake. And you know what? It is absolutely delicious!
