Depends on whether or not you want to make it from scratch or use a mix. Doing it from scratch can cost more up front if you don't already have a lot of the basic things in your house like cake flour, coconut, etc. However, once you buy cake flour it can be used for other dishes so it can offset the intial expenditures. Like you may already have flour, butter, eggs so an apple pie might only cost the amount it would take to buy the apples (unless you want to use the canned variety). And the pecan pie it might only be the cost of the pecan's and caro syrup.
