Staying healthy, eating chocolates!
When you think of chocolate, we believe that the blind indulgence and guilty pleasures, not benefits health. Indeed, it is more like the antithesis of health and nutrition in our mind that we have learned since we were little children, eating large quantities of chocolate can have disastrous consequences and is therefore prohibited to a certain extent (you can not eat a meal before and during the night). But Thanks to new scientific findings, it appears that chocolates are beneficial to health, especially dark chocolate.
Lowers your blood pressure
According to a scientific report published in August 27, 2003 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, dark chocolate (but not milk chocolate or white) helps to lower blood pressure. Dr. Dirk Taubert of the University of Cologne, Germany, with his colleagues, conducted a study among seven women and six men aged between 55 to 64 years who were diagnosed with high blood pressure slightly from 84 as the lowest (diastolic blood pressure) to 153 as the highest (systolic blood pressure). Each patient was instructed eating a chocolate bar 100 grams (containing 480 calories) per day for a period of two weeks. Half of them had to eat dark chocolate while the other half had to eat white chocolate. They were also instructed to avoid eating foods that have calories and nutrients similar to offset the 480 calories in the bar of 100 grams of sweets. At the end of the second week, those who received the dark chocolate saw their fall blood pressure significantly, an average of 2 points for those with a diastolic blood pressure, and 5 points for those with blood pressure systolic. While those who received white chocolate does not see a drop in blood pressure. But do not make this excuse for chocolate binge. Moderation is always the healthiest way to go.
An important source of antioxidants
In another study published in August 2003 issue of Nature, dark (but not white or milk) chocolate was found to contain powerful antioxidants that helps fight free radicals and other destructive molecules that cause various ailments from heart disease to cancer. Mauro Serafini of the National Institute for Food and Nutrition Research Rome, Italy, in collaboration with his team, conducted a study of seven women and five men, aged 25 to 35 years, who were all in perfect health. Each were asked to eat 100 grams of dark chocolate a day, 100 grams of dark chocolate with a glass of milk on another day, and 200 grams chocolate milk on yet another day. After one hour of eating chocolate, it was found that dark chocolate, when eaten alone, increased antioxidants in the blood, particularly levels of epicatechin, which is a compound found in healthy in cocoa. Milk chocolate was found that the lowest level of epicatechin. Milk was found to interfere with the absorption of antioxidants, and by eating dark chocolate, enjoy the best in the state, which is the best way anyway.
