When should I add chocolate chips?

I make brownies shortbread and I want some chocolate chips on top flowing in only a little. The shortbread crust recipe has the basic cooking / for 10 minutes, then add the brownie batter / mixture and cook it all for another 30-35 min. Should I add chocolate chips when I put the brownie mix or should I add the midway. I do not want them to sink and disappear completely. Thank you!

I would add approximately 10 to 15 minutes before brownies are done in order for them to stay on top. as long the dough is slightly firm, they should not leak.
