Tiramisu -> substituting Marsala?

Hi I'm trying to make a tiramisu and was looking for a large number of recipes. most recipes call for Marsala wine (alternative is a rum), however, I do not have Marsala wine or rum at home. All I have to house just now Caramel Bailey's Irish cream and chocolate liquor (with some content inside khalua). Here are some questions I would like ask before I consider buying the whole bottle of Marsala. 1. Marsala is a must in tiramisu? 2. Can it be left out in the recipe? 3. What is its effect on the recipe if it is left out? 4. Is there a replacement for the addition Marsala rum and rum extract? Can I use what I have at home now to substitute Marsala? 5. Besides tiramisu, Marsala which can be used also for Chicken Marsala and drink? PS Any other additional tips on making a good tiramisu is also appreciated. Many thank you!
