How can I get our chocolate lab who is 18 months old and weights 76 lbs to stop jumping on people?!? HELP!?
Our lab is super sweet, but she also gets super excited when she sees people and she ALWAYS jumps on them. I am going to say she is stubborn, because my husband and I don't allow it to happen, but it is really like she doesn't care and she still does it. One really big problem is when she first sees little kids she plows them over b/c she wants to pay with them. After she is around people for about 10 minutes she calms down, but her initial reaction is terrible!!!!!
i agree with workoski. The trick (and this is not cruel in any way, nor does it hurt) is when the dog jumps up, lift your knee. It'll hit yer dog in the chest and push him or her off balance. It'll soon work out that jumping is not appreciated. Remember that you are not kneeing him or her to hurt so dont act as if you are in a bar fight. kne kneee is firm and quick, but you aren'r doing it to hurt. ok? cool. good luck and smooth sailing.
